This setting is stunning. A beautiful combination of vintage meets modern meets romantic. Granted, Verragio rings allow you the flexibility of mix and matching design elements of their various rings to create a one of a kind look of your own, but I chose this piece nearly as is. I did go with a bigger center stone and switched out one of the smaller diamonds for a ruby in the crown of the scrolls on the underside of my ring to represent our anniversary month. I counted a total of 100 diamonds that make up the halo, side, and scroll set diamonds equating to its .65 ctw before the center stone is added. The center stone is actually a round cut diamond that offers maximum brilliance and fire, surrounded by a cushion shaped halo. The ultimate illusion is that of a cushion cut diamond. Why not just go with a cushion cut diamond, you ask? Because as I stated above, of all the diamond cuts, a round will always have the MOST brilliance. This setting is the best of both worlds. The most traditional and common of all cuts with a twist, without compromising a classic look. It is comfortable to wear. The open scroll work almost seems to provide a little give on the finger. That being said, I would not recommend purchasing this ring without being sized properly for two reasons. 1. I normally wear a 5 1/2, but the give on the scroll work called for a size 5. Something I didn't know about this setting, but my jeweler did. Whew! This proper fit keeps this ring from spinning on my finger, even with my 2 carat center. 2. If you purchase this ring too big and have to have it resized significantly, you could compromise the pave set diamonds, making their setting loose and risk loosing stones. Avoid this all, by getting properly fitted and ordering your exact size the first time.
